String – Day Twelve of NaPoWriMo

There’s this ace puppeteer

at this restaurant in Tinseltown

and he said the secret to his magic 

wasn’t how he pulled the strings, 

instead it was how he spotted 

the connections between things 

that needed to be and things 

that weren’t meant so.

And also that haven is among those lives 

which don’t depend on how they intersect

in the zig zag, haphazard way life works 

but on how tightly things can be stretched 

without that fateful snap.
