Formula Bharat

Formula Manipal, MAHE’s very own student project which focuses on design, building and racing single-seated race cars, performed exceedingly well in this year’s Formula Bharat, held from the 23rd of January to the 27th of January at Kari Speedway in Coimbatore. With a contingent of carefully chosen 51 undergraduate students, their Combustion and Electric Vehicle is the reason for their well-deserved success.

The 74 teams participating in the Combustion category and the 18 teams taking part in the Electric category made performing well in the competition a Herculean task. The days spent burning the midnight oil paid off for Formula Manipal as we secured an all India third position in Combustion vehicle in the Electric cat, a first position in the Acceleration Event and Business Plan Presentation and finally, a second place for the Design event category-making for an impressive bag of awards!

Management subsystem head, Sri Khyati, gives an insight into the yearlong preparation that went into for this competition; their second event of this season. The team primarily consists of second, third and fourth years from the automobile, mechanical and electronics departments, and was selected after a gruelling round of interviews and a rigorous three-month task phase.

It goes without saying that the entire journey, right from designing a car to seeing it perform well in competitions, was a bumpy ride. The same passion and interest which drove the present team can be seen in the freshers as well. With an already successful team and more people under their wing working towards the car of their dreams, Formula Manipal has achieved a minuscule amount of the greater things they are destined for.
