Forging Invictus – Sponsorships and Finance

A huge fest like Invictus could not have been overseen without the proper management and handling of the budgeting and resource allocation. So, in order to have a little insight into the economics of a behemoth like Invictus, read on for what Iruvantika Malik (Finance Secretary) and Reem Hunain (General Secretary) had to say about their experience.

As Finance Secretary, what did your job entail?

Iruvantika: As Finance Secretary, the work is kind of never ending. After handling all registration issues before and during the fest, we still have a lot do about the bills and reimbursements. Special thanks to the Finance Committee 2018 for helping out so much before, during and even after the fest.

With the Student Council being formed just about a month before Invictus 2018, what were the challenges faced in orchestrating the colossal event?

Iruvantika: With just a month left after our designation, we had a tough time working around all official formalities, permission letters and also the new EC regulations due to the upcoming elections. Despite all obstacles we managed to finish everything. Huge shout out to our predecessors for guiding us through it and to the entire organizing committee for making it happen in such a short time.

Lastly, how would you rate your experience of being part of Invictus 2018?

Iruvantika: The last few weeks have been full of challenges, we had our ups and downs through it all, but retrospectively all we are going to remember is the fun we had in working together, the appreciation we got from the participating colleges and the pride we felt in seeing our baby fest grow.

The idea of a fest of Invictus’ stature could not have come to life without the sponsorships that afforded the student-organized fest to happen in the grandiose manner it did. Reem Hunain, General Secretary, who was the Head of Sponsorships this year talks about the challenges and her experience of getting sponsors for Invictus:

Having already had a successful Invictus last year, was there any change in the reception you faced when approaching companies for sponsorship?

Reem: Invictus sponsorships this year went in a really organised fashion and there was a visible improvement this year. Despite several hurdles and setbacks we faced, I believe that our efforts in setting up a benchmark for sponsorship for subsequent years was positive.

With the Student Council being formed just about a month before Invictus 2018, what were the challenges faced in orchestrating the colossal event?

Reem: Limited time factor was the obvious challenge me and my fellow organizers faced. However, that didn’t stop us from trying and giving our best in whatever job we took up.

Lastly, how would you rate your experience of being part of Invictus 2018?

Reem: Invictus 2018, I’d say was a wonderful experience for me. These two months were stressful, but worth cherishing. I learned a lot of things and feel even more positive about myself.
