Engineers Without Borders

On the 24th September, the Manipal Chapter of Engineers without Borders (EWB) held a talk in association with EWB Bangalore.

The speakers were DRDO Scientists, Mr Dillibabu and Mr Manjunath. The event started with a few words from the Director of MIT, Dr Gopalakrishna Prabhu.

Then the guest speakers took over and talked about the impact that engineers can make towards achieving a progressive and self-sufficient nation.

While Mr Dillibabu explained the hierarchical setup of the Defense Ministry and its constituents and highlighted the opportunities that DRDO provided for engineering graduates, Mr Manjunath emphasized the importance of renewable energy and spoke extensively on solar energy and the different ways to harness it.

Students were then given time to present their projects to the speakers. The Projects included a Water quality Assessment and Research initiative, a refrigeration system which employed the Peltier effect, a local sanitation project, and a rural lighting solution. The projects were reviewed and analyzed by the team visiting from EWB Bangalore.

EWB Manipal is a student run chapter which focuses on implementing engineering solutions to provide a better and self-reliant future to the people in need.
EWB will be conducting their general body meeting and recruitments on the 29th and 30th of September.
