Revels Behind the Scenes | Operations

Operations stands true to its name as it operates and manages everything that truly goes on behind the scenes. From working with each category, overcoming hurdles together to having meals together as a team, Operations as a family has come a long way.

We at MTTN sat down with them at their candid best to share their story and work experience which forms an integral part of the fest.

Did you guys have any hiccups this time? Has solving them become a daily job now?

There will always be hiccups. This time around, there were just minor issues to be dealt with. We were able to overcome those glitches pretty well. We started working from November 2016.

The theme of Revels is “rhythm of life”. How is Operations living up to the theme?

There is a book by the same name and it speaks about pursuing secondary passions in life. I think that’s what Operations is for all of us. Now that the fest is coming to an end, the truth is dawning upon us. Two more days and our work will be done but the memories will last a lifetime.

Did you guys learn everything from your seniors or was it self-taught?

Operations deals with management and organizational skills. We can never relate one problem with the other. There mostly are new scenarios to be dealt with on a daily basis. At the same time, our seniors did guide us. They taught us well for us to carry on the load later. We have 6 organizers and a few volunteers. We at Operations, deal with sensitive information. Hence, the volunteers mostly do the exterior work.

How is Revels different from Techtatva for the team?

Revels attracts a lot of crowd whereas Techtatva is mostly our college students participating. Also in Techtatva, events happen in specific class rooms and our college doesn’t lack in rooms at all. Revels is more constrained in terms of space. For dance performances, we just have the LA and the quadrangle. There are more entries, more participants, more results that need to go up. Managing the space and the crowd makes Revels stand out.

You guys must have become a small little family. All this while working together binds people.

True. We are like a small little family that has dinner together, watches movies together. We work together and most importantly stay together. We even bought our ProShow tickets together. Benny Dayal is not to be missed at all. We have even heard that there will be a lot of surprises lined up during the ProShow.

How do you think have the categories fared this time?

The categories have worked extremely well. They have made a mark of their own. Outstation Management managed to get 2500 participants from other universities and Sponsorship managed to have MTV Colors of Youth as a sponsor. We got Srinidhi Shetty to judge Haute Couture, which is brilliant in itself. I am extremely proud of the work that the categories have managed to do this Revels.

What is the message you would want to pass on to people reading this article?

Participate in college fests. Make them your own. We toil relentlessly to make it sail smoothly. College fest is for the people of the college and its time they buckle up more for the participation. We would especially vouch for Operations as a category as it works at the grass root level. It makes the fest what it is.

Operations as a team has come a long way. A team is made up of the people in it and this team surely knows how to crack the glass ceiling and make a mark of its own. Their tenacity and hard work shapes the Fest and their efficiency makes it what it is.
