National Poetry Writing Month, Day 8: Three Brothers

There were once three brothers,
quite unlike the others.
One courted with Death,
never broke a sweat,
for he was born to be a risk taker,
But never the undertaker
of dangers against his brethren.
He didn’t flinch at blood
instead, he braced against the flood,
ready to take on the world by force
just for his brothers.

There were once three brothers
who had different mothers.
The Second flirted with adventure,
always wanting to venture
into a world where he would surrender
to the forces of nature
just to be himself
with his favourite people
by his side, and closure
with a view on all sides,
just with his brothers.

There were once three brothers
who were together almost forever.
The Third loves them the most
and a mixture of both.
But what he lacks in a daring mess
he makes up for some common sense.
He picks them up whenever they’re down,
always ready to correct their wrongs,
But now he smiles
for he’s about to join them
amongst the stars and form the Trinity,
just with his brother’s.
