Fear

Darling, darling Fear

Like a cold, rattling wind you blow

Flooding my skies dark

Swords of sorrow you wield

Seeds of darkness you sow

You spread your roots deep

You find ways to secrets I keep

Mourning every ounce of joy

Every failure of mine you reap

Every day, I see you in a million eyes

In every subdued gasp

For you’re everywhere, all the time

You’re painted across my skies

But I wish you could see, my friend

That you know not how to obscure

I’ve learned to shatter your darkness

Into a million shades of azure.

You painted me a freak of nature

Asymmetry’s poster child

Flawed in every direction

Untamed, dirty, vile

But darling, darling Fear

Little do you know

That I’ve learnt to create masterpieces

From the seeds you did once sow

The thought of you won’t faze me

I wear it in six yards of pride

For you might live beside me

But I’ll give you no place to hide.

Darling, darling Fear

Like a cold, rattling wind you blow

But from your every cut that ran deep

Rivers of colour will flow

And I’ll take those colours

Every drop of every hue

And splatter them across those skies

That you convinced me weren’t blue

For my asymmetry doesn’t faze me

I thought this, you should know

It is art, I’ve learned to create from it

And in this creating

I’ll create a thousand ways to grow.

The third poem of the series, penned down by Angad Gummaraju talks of using art as a means to cross the boundaries that fear inherently draws around us.

In addition to being the creator of the above words, Angad also designed the artwork that you see along with the poem. He is the first member from the Type B Poetry Team to be featured in this series.
