Sleepless nights for countless days,
Endless thoughts in the headspace,
Doubts along the way.
They said you can hold it in forever, the heart and the brain.
But how long is forever?
Sometimes it is years, months, sometimes never,
Sometimes it is just a second, tell me, how long is forever?
Can’t keep it in, can’t let it out, this tribulation is real, don’t want the reason and the inner voice to joust.
Perhaps it is for the better that we hide, perhaps it is better to seek,
Faltering eyes, they hide something, but for how long? Forever?
How long is then, this forever?
Confusion, channeled by the clouds of uncertainty, vulnerability, regrets, and fear,
Clarity, by the voice of reason.
One might think it childlike, one might not,
Aren’t secrets the cause of lies and shadiness in the world that your innocence thinks to be pure?
They are, but they’re not.
Say it, it’s a secret but it’s a secret to let out,
Hoping it doesn’t tangle amidst the complexities of expectations and reality,
That it doesn’t change how the world sees you, or rather,
How you see yourself as how the world sees you.
