In Another Life: Day Nineteen of NaPoWriMo 2023

yellow daisies always find their way to you,

the big dipper, always in anticipation of being noticed by you in a clear sky,

brown, green, blue, all eyes follow your fingers as you fix your hair,

waves of your voice carry people toward you,

you are the personification of a breathtaking sunrise.

In another life, I will be like you.

My drawer, full of wilted roses,

Looked up only to witness gray skies,

Eyes following me everywhere, piercing my soul, noting down every step I take,

My voice muted by the horde of people around me,

I’m the personification of the clouds shielding you from the hues of a sunset.

In another life, will I be like you?

I look in the mirror, and I see you,

Staring at me with eyes full of longing;

I touch my skin and resist the urge to rip it apart,

How is it that you have such flawless skin?

How is it that everyone adores you but cannot bear to look me in the eyes?

How can I be you not only in front of everyone but also in front of myself?

How is it that you and I share the same body but different minds?

In this life, I am you;

In another life, I want to be like you.
