What Your Favorite Taylor Swift Album Says About You

On account of Taylor Swift’s Birthday month, our team of MTTN writers has curated a short but weirdly accurate article about what your favorite Taylor Swift album says about you! Read on to find out more!

“It’s hard not to find it all a little bittersweet

And lookin’ back on all of that, it’s nice to believe”

Taylor Swift

If your soul mirrors the masterpiece that is “Taylor Swift,” you are someone who is getting to know yourself.

You’re discovering your identity through your relationships with other people. You hold every memory you make close to your heart and vividly paint it in your imagination.

You’re possibly an old-school romantic at heart and willing to make grand gestures to make your loved ones feel appreciated. People like you are rare in today’s fast-paced world!

“I don’t know why but with you I’d dance in a storm in my best dress…fearless.”

Fearless

If your favorite T-Swift album is “Fearless,” you are likely someone who has faced challenges in personal relationships but has learned a lot from them.

You live life conquering any obstacles that may frighten you despite being scared. You are not afraid to put yourself out there, even if you get hurt.

Falling for your best friend? Smiling at those who hurt you? FEARLESS. You are human, but you are growing by the day. The right experiences will enrich you.

“Time for a little revenge”

Speak Now

If one of your top albums is Speak Now, you still can’t let go of the country-pop era that made our 12-year-old selves fall in love with songs of love, heartache, and possibly next-door neighbors.

“It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you”– The lyrics of one of the classic songs for this album, etched in your brain, which you still hum whenever someone mentions December.

This is the album where Taylor went one step ahead, adding a vengeful undertone with songs like ‘mean’ and ‘better than revenge.’

You get an adrenaline rush every time you listen to them, seconds away from dedicating one of these to the ones who even slightly wronged you.

You love the diversity of this album, from songs you listen to while reminiscing old love to pieces you can listen to while you’re plotting revenge.

“I still see it all in my head, in burning red.

Red

Red is an album about love. Love, in its true chaotic, imperfect glory. If Red is the album that resonates with you the most, you are a very passionate person.

You feel things very deeply. You’re also very brave and wear your heart on your sleeve. If you love someone, you’ll never fail to let them know.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. You often face challenges- but you rise above it all. Stay true to yourself- you’ll receive the love you selflessly give out to others.

“Nice to meet you, where’ve you been?

I could show you incredible things”

1989

If your favorite T-Swift album is 1989, you’re an interesting character, to say the least! Taylor herself said that this was the turning point in her discography.

You probably don’t like being tied down by labels- you want to break free and see what life offers you. The album, much like your personality, is multi-faceted and diverse. You are driven to become the person you always dreamed of being.

Be original, and step out of the box: greatness comes from outside the comfort zone!

“I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me”

Reputation

You have been through a lot of drama, and now you want to move on.

Like a snake shedding its skin, you want to shed all the negativity and toxicity from your life and start afresh without any expectations or misunderstandings.

“But I got harder; I got smarter in the nick of time.”

Even though circumstances may have forced you to evolve, you grew to like that version of yourself, aspire to be stronger and better in the future, and let go of all the hurt holding you back from happiness.

You also believe in karma and that everyone will eventually get what’s coming for them.

“We all know now, we all got crowns

You need to calm down”

Lover

If Lover is the album you find yourself playing anytime and anywhere, regardless of the mood you’re in, you tend to find beauty in even the worst of situations and are highly secure in how you are and what you feel.

Lover is an album that romanticizes life. It’s for all the hopeless romantics who still believe in love, despite everything life has thrown at them.

It’s not just romantic love, it’s the love you have for a stranger who came out online or even the love for your friends or family who support you through everything.

You think that the world would be a much better place if everyone were just kind and supportive of one another.

“Passed down like folk songs, the love lasts so long”

Folklore

Folklore is an album with a lot of imagery and beautiful lyricism to set the scene for storytelling- “pacing the rocks staring out at the midnight sea” and “I had the shiniest wheels, now they’re rusting.”

Stories of all shapes and forms fascinate you, from teenage heartbreak to songs about women who went mad or even wartime ballads and stories of regret and never being enough for the ones you love.

As a storyteller, you find yourself drawn to history and the past and often wonder what it would’ve been like to exist in a different time and place, with different people and thoughts.

Although you are content with your life, you can’t help but think, what if? “If one thing had been different, would everything be different”

There’s a twinge of sadness when you think of the past, but you always remember it with fondness and warmth.

“Time, wondrous time, gave me the blues and then purple-pink skies.”

You have come to accept time as an ally, who will eventually reveal all its cards and help you in the future.

” I come back stronger than a 90s trend”

Evermore

Having evermore as your favorite album says that you’re the most exciting person in the room, but most of the time is in your head, daydreaming and conjuring scenarios that shatter your own heart.

From beautiful imagery to narrating an entire true crime story, evermore is one of the more inventive and experimental albums. Like all other Taylor Swift albums, this one makes you feel all emotions, except in a parallel fairytale universe.

It is warm; it is fresh. It feels like a woolen flannel scarf around you on a windy fall afternoon.

If all that goes on in your head is “My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand,” you’re not someone who shies away from shedding a few tears.

Songs like champagne problems and tolerate it makes you miss the lover you never had and the one who never had you.

Taylor paints pictures of different kinds of pain set in different eras with separate storylines. However, the last song, “Evermore,” ends on a subtle, refreshing, and reassuring note- “This pain won’t be for evermore.’

“It’s me hi, I’m the problem it’s me”

Midnights

When the world has gone to sleep and you’re left alone with your thoughts, that’s what Midnights is all about.

Your midnight thoughts are all very layered and complex like the songs on the album. One night you could be planning on how to be a mastermind, the next you could be reminiscing about all the sweet nothings and the next still you could be thinking about the loves that faded to maroon.

Your midnight thoughts are just your own, and oftentimes you don’t share them with anyone, even the people you’re closest to.

Taylor’s Midnight thoughts have broken history and just like her, your midnight thoughts can be equally as powerful and maybe even change the course of your life.
