Invictus: Day Six

Invictus 2018 came to a magnificent end after a week filled with exhilaration and exhaustion. The host college’s teams emerging as the overall champions certainly came as a sweet reward for all the hard work put in by the teams as well as the organizers.

Sports Quiz 
It isn’t necessary to be good at something to love it and the Sports Quiz on the last day of Invictus was the perfect way for all the sports geeks to show off their knowledge. Hosted by Major Chandrakant Nair – one of the most buzzworthy names in the world of quizzing in the country, the quiz ended up being one of the most anticipated events with ample participation from many non-quizzing teams as well. The quiz consisted of a preliminary round from which the top 8 teams progressed to the final round. The quiz was the perfect afternoon for quizzers, filled with stumping trivia and stupendous performances by the finalists.
General quiz 
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
The General quiz was the pièce de resistance of the literary events and was one of the most highly anticipated events of Invictus. Hosted by Major Chandrakant Nair, one of the most prolific names in the world of quizzing in the country, the quiz attracted a lot of participation from a lot of quizzers coming to attend the event not just due to the stature of the quizmaster, but also the chance to pocket the high prize money associated with the event. The quiz which took place in TMA PAI Halls from 4-8pm consisted of a preliminary round from which the top 8 teams progressed to the final round. The quiz was a perfect conclusion to six days of cultural and literary events and thus drawing the Literary events to a close.
Battle of the Bands
The battlefield was all set and the warriors equally bubbling with enthusiasm. Thus began the Battle of the Bands – on of the most awaited events of the week. Being the final event of Invictus 2018, Battle of the Bands drew a fairly large audience to KMC Greens. Renditions of classic crowd-pleasers like  ‘Don’t stop me now’ and ‘Highway to hell’ gained loud cheers from the audience. While some of the Bands chose to perform their original compositions, some ad-libbed the latest hit songs like ‘Havana’ and ‘Shape of you’. With each of the seven bands putting its best foot forward to impress the judges and entertain the audience, it certainly turned out to be a delightful evening.

 

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony was held at KMC Greens in the presence of an earnest gathering of students and faculty from various colleges basking in the soothing white rays of the full moon.The dignitaries on the dais included Dr. Pragna Rao, Dean of KMC Manipal and the faculty coordinators of sports, cultural and literary committees. Prizes were given out for all the events conducted on the ultimate and penultimate days. Lastly the rolling trophies for the best college were given out. The hosts KMC Manipal, ably defended their homeground and were declared champions of Invictus 2018 in both sports and co-curricular activities. Throughout the fest their hard working spirit and dedicated sportsmanship made their achievement possible.

With this ended the biggest cultural and sporting extravaganza hosted by the student council of KMC Manipal.
