Kria Restaurant Review (Bengaluru)

In search of a classic fine dine restaurant where you can have a decent conversation over lunch or dinner, coupled with selected variety of good wine and soft music that matches perfectly with the ambiance? Well you have stumbled upon the right place. Kria, a restaurant opened recently in Koramangala, gives you just that.

With its bluish jazzy ambience, Kria gives a very soothing, calm appearance. The classic filament lamps, the furniture and the oil, acrylic paintings such as those of a wine cellar and a portrait of Nikola Tesla, takes you in a world of classic blended with chic detailing.

However, the most striking thing about this restaurant is its menu. The menu lists quite a number of dishes that are unheard of, a majority of them exploring the regional taste, a fine assortment of desi spices and local ingredients.  Their Kastoori chicken and Beetroot tikki were quite amazing, innovative and different , and it was presented in an almost exotic way. Their Paneer Galauti is a treat for vegetarians, it melts in the mouth same as galauti kebabs, and the flavoured spices in the dish are a treat for the taste buds. Sesame crust paneer potatoes is another dish unheard of, and the Kria kitchen led by chef Avinash is quite open to experimenting with local taste.  The fruit nachos make an amazing starter; it’s quite something different I have had compared to other places, with nachos laced in pineapple and pomegranates rather than cheese or mayonnaise.

However, my best dish of the day had to be Ghee Roast chicken sandwiches, something very new and never tried earlier. Kria has a very Manipal touch to it, the head chef Avinash is a WGSHA graduate, and the owner Ujwal Shetty also owns  ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in Manipal. Re-innovating Ghee Roast by combining it with grilled sandwich and fried potato chips was absolutely brilliant.

Another particular feature, which sets Kria apart from numerous other places, is its drinks menu. They serve very fine quality wine and cocktails only, a selected handpicked variety, and is a must try for all wine enthusiasts.

The staff led by Chetan and Glenn, is praise worthy. The service is good, the music goes with the soothing ambience, and the cleanliness is superb.  All in all, Kria is definitely a must visit for all food lovers who are looking for a place with classic, regional flavors. A date, a corporate meal, a family get together, everything easily blends into the Kria atmosphere.  Manipalites, residing in Bangalore, give this place a try for our people, our taste and especially for Chicken Ghee Roast.
