The Indo-German Convention of Lindau Alumni 2016 commenced with the Inaugural ceremony held at TMA Pai Hall 2 from 9.30am to 10.30am. Dr. Poornima Baliga (Dean, KMC-Manipal) extended her warm welcome to the chief guest Dr. M G Deo (Padmashree awardee), guests of honour Dr. H.S. Ballal (Pro-chancellor of Manipal University), Dr. G.K.Prabhu (Director, MIT) and all the other dignitaries and delegates from all over the nation. To invoke the blessings of the Almighty, Ms. Sayli rendered a melodious invocation song. Following this, Dr. Partha Dabke (Alumni advisor and founder of IGCLA) shared his nostalgic memories of how IGCLA became his brainchild and also, stressed on the importance of interdisciplinary research. The chief guest of the day, Dr. Deo, Vice-President of Moving Academy of Medicine and Biomedicine and Dr. H.S. Ballal addressed the gathering and emphasized on the rapid advancement and role of women in science and technology in the recent years. Dr. G.K. Prabhu released the souvenir of IGCLA 2016 following which, Dr. Srikanth Prabhu from Manipal Institute of Technlogy shared some innovative information on medical technology and Big Data. The program concluded with Mr. Akshit Awasthi (Chairperson, IGCLA 2016) delivering the vote of thanks.
A sumptuous Science Breakfast was served prior to the ceremony at TMA Pai Hall 1. All the delegates were filled with vibrant energy and proceeded to the poster presentation event and key note lectures soon after the inauguration ceremony.
