Genesis 2020

Genesis, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, means “The beginning of something new”, and the event “Genesis – Nuovo Inizio” organized by the Cultural Council of MAHE Association of Pharmacy Students (MAPS) was held to celebrate the new beginnings by inaugurating their newly appointed Student Council, and welcoming the new batch of freshers in their family.

Held on Microsoft Teams on the 30th of October at 3:30 PM, the event was kick-started by invoking God and paying tribute to their former Vice-Principal, Late Dr M Sreenivasa Reddy. It was followed by an address from the Chief Guest, Dr G Arun Maiya, Professor and Dean, Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), and Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS). They congratulated the office bearers and appreciated the efforts that went into organizing the online event.

Adithya, General Secretary, MAPS, was called on to introduce the roles performed by the Student Council. Shrawal Kotian endorsed his duties as President and promised to deliver excellence on behalf of his team. A soulful dance performance by Manasa brought forth a greater joy to the event.

All the different clubs and committees of the Student Council like the Editorial Board, Academic Council, Cultural Committee, Sports Committee, etc. introduced their members, along with their roles and responsibilities and the events planned for the year ahead using short innovative videos that kept the audience interested throughout!

The hosts of the event Purbasha Chanda, Anushka Bhayana, Akanksha, and Anshuman, did a spectacular job managing a one-of-a-kind virtual event. The event came to an end with Gursimran Kaur, Vice-President of MAPS extending gratitude to all those who helped bring the event to life.
