The 8th May 2022, unlike another usual, lax Sunday, Manipal saw it’s most enthusiastic runners pour in at the KMC Greens for the MANIPAL FIT-A-THON.
The event was organized by FITVIB, VSO, and MRC. It witnessed people running not only to get fit, and more robust, but also to spread awareness about breast and cervical cancer on the occasion of Mother’s day. The tagline of the event was “Giving up is not an option”.
The 10 km marathon originated from the Edu Building->Tiger circle->VGT-> TAPMI-> left from tree park -> Parkala road -> Arbi falls -> Dashratgnagar temple Arch-> Tiger Circle -> Edu Building.
The event gathered a total of 141 participants.
The 10 km marathon was long enough to be taxing, but short enough to be attainable by a dilettante. The winners of the 10 km marathon were as follows:
3rd place-Shrey Deshmukh
Along the route were aid stations that provided the runners with water, electrolytes, fruits, ice, pain-relieving spray, and all other necessities required by the participant. Besides medical aid, there were ambulances and backup buses. The registered participants were provided with a running number bib, a funky shirt and a wristband. The event was a host to many other fun activities that followed the 10km run. Overall, the event not only gave talented students an excellent opportunity to showcase their abilities, but also inculcated a habit of running to lead a healthy life.
