Paradigm–Day Five of NaPoWriMo

Caged in the closet, locked behind bars
One minute we dream flying cars, next minute we battle impending death signed with scars
The human psyche, the demon has his way with, making our minds, next to ajar
This doom we see, a resemblance to the SARS

The hustle and bustle of normality, warped into the dead
Tied up in chains, we fain for the sweet releases of freedom, the movement widespread
We look outside the glass window, for what was, the wonder we did shed
We deserve this ultimatum, a monster we didn’t dread

One crime, one sentence to time till the end
We did the crime, we pay with time, the things we do to make amends
The bowl in our skull churning, with guilt and brain fades, we wish to transcend
Ready to pick up the injection and drip, and take this all away, far far away, the impossible godsend

Sitting in the darkness, one thought revolved
We’re better than this, the best from which we’ve evolved
We face the brunt, a pill we swallow, half dissolved
Yet we remain hopeful, a future, we see completely absolved

Funny, how the two cyclones collide
Entrapping the horror within, the beauty on the outside
Sparkling greenery on one, the beckoning of justice and peace on the other side
To the better, a new vision worldwide

Behind the bars, behind the SARS, both, we did the crime
In one felt swoop, we were inebriated from our prime
If you pay to get into the mind, one para one dime
The same doom and uncertainty for the better, despite a shift in paradigm.
