Grapes— Day Fourteen of NaPoWriMo

They tussled and tossed their sweet selves away,
Your intoxicated thirst was left unquenched
You were frozen in place, held forever by their sway

When you first encountered them, you just wanted to foray
Towards those bitter grapes, in temptation drenched
But they tussled and tossed their sweet selves away

But once you’d had a taste, you couldn’t help but stay
Their bitter allure to your mind was clenched
You were frozen in place, held forever by their sway

For they weren’t sweet, they were sour, and they’d make you lose your way
With their false sweetness, all your other dreams were benched
But then, they tussled and tossed their sweet selves away

For them, you’d sin and for them, you’d pray
In this addiction, you were forever entrenched,
You were frozen in place, held forever by their sway

“Grapes are sour”, was a phrase that you’d never say
But these sour grapes had left you eternally unquenched
And as they tussled and tossed their sweet selves away,
You were frozen in place, held forever by their sway
