There was a time when success was supposed to be directly proportional to being employed, but now, people want more. They do not just want opportunities; they want to create better ones for themselves. Long gone are the days when people wanted to be an employee and the dawn of entrepreneurs has arrived. Entrepreneurship is not just about making money, but also about identifying and solving problems. Every Preneur was once a problem that needed just the right amount of imagination, and every Entrepreneur was once a person willing to undertake it.
The E-Cell of MIT, Manipal, is here with a fantastic opportunity for all future entrepreneurs out there. E-Cell has been a significant stakeholder in the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) premises among the students looking to understand and indulge in the world of startups. It has been a one-stop-shop for those looking to convert their imaginations and ideas into viable future startups.
Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit 2022 (MES) is a flagship event of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). It will be hosted by E-Cell between March 17, 2022, and April 2, 2022, and aims to resolve the students’ queries regarding startups and deliver them immaculately. It seeks to do so through interactive sessions, panel discussions, standups, fairs, and some events about the Metaverse. The idea behind the MES is to give an insight to the students into the domains of entrepreneurship and instil a culture of economic innovation at MAHE.
The first stretch of MES for March will be inaugurated on March 17, 2022, at 2:30 pm, followed by a ‘Business in Metaverse Webinar’ from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm with Anshul Rustaggi as the speaker. He has been researching the Metaverse to increase awareness among students about the next big technological revolution. The webinar will be an excellent source for students to understand and explore the new Meta sensation. This event will also mark the end of the first day of the summit.
Day 2—March 23, 2022, will start with an ‘Informal Event’ featuring from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. The next event will be a treat for the audience since it will reveal the standup artist visiting Manipal on April 2 2022, and the timings will be 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Day 3—March 24, 2022, will feature one of the major events, ‘Case Maze.’ An online quiz will involve a detailed case study of startups and companies. Participants will need to analyse them and answer questions based on them. This will take place in three challenging rounds to declare the winners. The participants will be awarded cash prizes.
Day 4—March 25, 2022, will be an extension of the events of ‘Case Maze.’ The cases will be sent to the shortlisted teams from round one.
Day 5—March 26, 2022, A workshop series starting from 26th will take place.
Day 6—March 27, 2022, will be marked by ‘Agree to Disagree’ sessions one and two, respectively. This event will allow participants from all age groups to discuss and deliberate on subjects related to the startup world. Students can contest to experience and win a real-life business-related discourse or gain insight into fellow entrepreneurs’ particular situations. The events will have E-Cell and MIT admins as their moderators. The deadline for the ‘Case Maze’ solution submission will also be the day. Furthermore, as a cherry on top, the list of events scheduled for the day also includes a ‘Pitch Tank Internal Workshop’, which will be 120 minutes long.
Day 9—March 30, 2022. The last event for the month will be a ‘Case Maze’ event and will have a presentation by the top five teams of the event under the supervision of Guest judges. The timings for the event will be 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
April 1, 2022, will mark the commencement of the second stretch of the MES. The venue for the day will be the 4th Floor, Library Auditorium, MIT. ‘Entrepreneurial stories’, which will feature stories by all the panel members. The event will be a treat for avid listeners willing to get an essence of entrepreneurship. The day will also have two consecutive sessions of ‘Panel discussion’ on the essentials of entrepreneurship, finance and business. The timings for the same will be from 3:30 – 4:30 pm and 4:45 pm – 5:45 pm, respectively. ‘Panel discussion’ will be a meeting of top entrepreneurs and discussions on various startup fields and sharing their opinions on the entrepreneurial decisions. The next big event for the day will be the first session of the ‘Startup Pitch,’ which is the best place to know how your idea can grow, so brush up on your presentation skills, and be ready with your pitch for the panellists. The timing for this event will be from 5:45 pm – 7 pm. The next event will be ‘Startup Networking,’ a kind networking dinner that will be an opportunity to bond with the top entrepreneurial minds present and learn from the best. The timings for the event will be 7 pm – 7.30 pm. Most of us have played Monopoly at least once in our lives, and to keep the spirit alive, the last event for the day at MES will be ‘Money Quest.’ It will be a real live version of the game but with a few twists of its own, so get your business minds ready to make the best deals, but don’t forget to have fun while you’re at it! The duration of the event will be 195 minutes, and the timings will be 4:45 pm – 8 pm.
April 2, 2022, will mark the conclusion of the MES. The day will be divided into two different activity types—indoor and outdoor. The first set of indoor activities will be at the Library Auditorium. Many of us have heard about Shark Tank India’s first season and the boom in innovation through its unique format. MES is set to bring an engaging ‘KeyNote Talk’ to mark 2022 as the ‘Year of Innovation’. The event will be from 9:30 am – 10:15 am. The next event will be the second ‘Startup Pitch’ session from 10:30 am – 12 am. After all the enlightening discussions, the best that one could hope for is a shot of humour, and the next event of ‘Standup Comedy’ will do just that!
Meanwhile, MES will also host a ‘Startup Fair’ adjacent to the Library building & Innovation Centre at the MIT campus. It will display the products and services of startups while elaborating on technologies and projects of commercial potential. Some informal events will be hosted alongside the ‘Startup Fair’ to engross the audience. The events planned are ‘Deal or No Deal’ and ‘Scramble.’ The final event of the day will be an indoor activity involving a visit to Manipal Incubators. The places will include Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI) and Manipal Government of Karnataka Bioincubator.
