SCITECHBIZ QUIZ

The SciTechBiz quiz was conducted jointly by the Literary Debate and Quiz Club and the Indian Society for Technical Education. The event took place on Tuesday, 17th of January. There was enthusiastic participation with over twenty teams taking part in the elimination round. This round consisted of fifteen questions, each having different clues leading to the answer. From this round, only six teams moved on to the next and final round.

The final was divided into three parts. The quizmasters, Ninaad Rajeev and Sharan Sheshadri, upped the ante with the long connect round consisting of clues to Ubuntu OS names! The questions ranged from topics as nondescript as Judas snakes to something as popular as Mark Zuckerberg’s Jarvis AI. The common theme of these questions was that they were all, in quizzing lingo, “workoutable”, which means that they could be answered easily with a little logic and clever conjecture. The finals culminated in a tie and first place was shared by two teams consisting of Varun Tiwari, Ayush Malviya, Achintya Sharma and Madhur Goenka, Rohan Gulati, Baidurya Mukherjee.

“Coming to the quiz was a last minute decision and we don’t regret it all. It’s a brilliant way to start the year”, said Rahul Verma , a member of the quiz team from NIT, Surathkal. The event generated interest in quizzing and also in the fields of business and technology as intended by its organisers.
