From the Eyes of the Muse Divine — Day Five of NaPoWriMo 2023

With neat sleeve cuffs, attire speaking of class and refinement,
He approaches my frame, his steps dominant and beguile
As he stands before me, his eyes lock with mine
I see him scrutinizing my features, lost in my sly smile.

As I sit here poised in Louvre’s hall,
He says,
“Da Vinci is an artist divine, after all!”

They gather around me, curious eyes studying every detail
The shadow of my nose, and the depth of my gaze
Within brush strokes and colours, they search for meaning
In the quest to understand the mystery my artist traced.

As I sit here poised in Louvre’s hall,
They say,
“Da Vinci is an artist divine, after all!”

Her gaze upon my canvas, understanding me beyond my frame
Acknowledgment in her eyes for my truth, my grace
A mutual connection, we celebrate the feminine spirit
For she saw me more than a portrait, recognising my essence.

As I sit here poised in Louvre’s hall,
She says,
“Da Vinci is an artist divine, after all!”

He time-travels to the modern world, way ahead of his era
Finds me hanging in a museum, and we meet again
A testament to his legacy, he sees me with newfound wonder
The world changed, but he marvels at my beauty that remained.

As I sit here poised in Louvre’s hall,
Da Vinci says,
“Miss Lisa is a muse divine, after all!”
