Things We Never Let Go: Day Seventeen of NaPoWriMo 2023

Letting go is like closing a chapter in a book
A concept seemingly as easy as breathing
But with everything the chapter teaches us
Do we let go or do we simply learn and move on?

There are things we never let go of
Like memories with the first our set of friends
Exchanging lunches and fighting over pencil boxes
Our first peep into the world outside our kin

There are things we never let go of
Like unanswered questions and lingering doubts,
That trap our minds, keep our hearts in a turmoil
Only closure can grant us peace, and help us break out

There are things we never let go of
Like our values and beliefs, shaping our identity,
Grounding us and guiding us towards who we strive to be,
For letting them go, is to face a shift in our reality.

There are things we never let go of
Like all those times we felt proud of ourselves
Signs telling us that the fight’s worth it
Each achievement, a stepping stone towards our goals.

Letting go is like closing a chapter in a book
A concept seemingly as easy as breathing
But some chapters must be held close to our hearts,
For they shape who we are and our unique parts.
